FAQ

Times, Dates and Location

Once we have agreed a time and date convenient to both we can discuss your thoughts and aspirations for the pictures. Please see the relationship agreement for my cancelation policy and my website for examples of products and pricing prior to the shoot.

A typical shoot and what to expect on the day

On arrival at the shoot location we will begin with exploring the surroundings to consider options we have available to us, taking in the environment and the lighting conditions we would agree where best to begin.
The open dialogue is your opportunity to share any thoughts, ideas or suggestions that would/could achieve the pictures required. We generally begin with shots of you walking with your horse as this will relax both horse and rider. We will progress to "posed shots" against a variety of backdrops, taken at different angles. Finishing with any bare back or riding shots.
My style is to take a relaxed and fun approach to the session enabling us to capture very natural poses capturing the relationship between horse and rider and for all parties to enjoy the photo shoot.

Preparing your horse or pony

To ensure that your horse is settled it might be wise to lightly lunge him/her and ensure they are not overly hungry. Your horse should be beautifully groomed – a clean and shining coat, mane and tail combed. All tack should be clean. For the most part, your horse will only need to wear a head collar and bridle, but we may also use the saddle later in the shoot.

Preparing yourself

Choose clothes in which you feel comfortable to create the image you would like, from yard wear to wedding dress. If you would like to bring a selection of clothing and footwear to capture a range of looks then we can accommodate. Overly patterned garments and strips, or colours that blend into the background are less effective, so if you are unsure feel free to bring options.

Nothing to fear

Please don’t worry about whether your equine friend may misbehave or get bored. The more relaxed you are, the more relaxed your horse will be. I have a reputation for being patient and know how to get the best out of even the trickiest equine customers! The "Great British Weather" can put a damper on your photo session. In the event of horrible weather, heavy rain, flooding or snow your photoshoot may be postponed and re-scheduled. I will contact you as early as possible to discuss any forecasted downpours so we can agree on a plan.

After the photo shoot

At the end of the shoot if the opportunity arises you may be able to view samples of the Premium Products available and discuss thoughts and ideas. Within four weeks the images will be available for viewing and a meeting can be arranged to discuss your chosen images and then you have an opportunity to purchase additional products.
